MUERTOS POR SU FE
En los paises árabes los cristianos son asesinados a diario. Salamente el año pasado casi cinco cristianos fueron asesinados por semana.
Simplemente por ser cristianos.
Los asesinatos por odio religioso no disminuyen, aumentan.
Por eso debemos ser solidarios con todo grupo religioso que sea perseguido, torturado, asesinado. No solo es un problema de solidaridad y caridad cristiana, es un problema de supervivencia.
Cuando un radical toma un rifle de asalto y tres pistolas, se dirige a una sinagoga en un día sagrado y dispara a mansalva matando ancianos, personas normales que buscaban en ese sitio tranquilidad y contacto con Dios, debemos temblar, porque cualquier día nos puede tocar a nosotros.
El Instituto Jesuita Pedro Arrupe de Miami protesta por esa masacre contra la counidad judía de Tree of Life, en Pittsburgh. Solamente en un cerebro lleno de odio puede un ser humano cometer esa atrocidad. Pedimos a los políticos que rechacen de su mensaje el odio racial, religioso, o cualquier tipo de odio. Rogamos por las almas de los muertos y los familiares de los muertos, y pedimos a Dios que traiga la concordia, el perdón y la convivencia para que nunca más tengamos que sufrir este tipo de tragedias.
DEAD FOR THEIR FAITH
Christians in Arab countries are killed daily. In the past year alone five Christians were killed every week.
Simply because they were Christians.
Assassinations because of religious hatred do not decrease, they rise.
Because of this we need to stand in solidarity with every religious group that is persecuted, tortured, or assassinated. It is not only a problem of solidarity and Christian charity, but also of survival.
When a radical person takes an assault rifle and three guns, heads towards a synagogue on a holy day, and indiscriminately shoots elderly persons, regular people who are searching for peace and quiet, and contact with God, we should worry, because any day it could be us.
The Pedro Arrupe Jesuit Institute of Miami protests against this massacre against the Jewish community, Tree of Life, in Pittsburgh. Only in a mind full of hate can a human being carry out this atrocity. We ask our politicians to reject these messages of hate – racial, religious or otherwise. We pray for the souls of the victims and for their families, and ask God to bring us harmony, forgiveness and peaceful coexistence so that never again we have to go through this type of tragedy.
